Fleadh Cheoil na hÉirean is in Sligo this week 10th to 17th August. Translated its name means The Music Festival of Ireland and that is exactly what it is. The Fleadh, as it usually called, is the largest single festival of Irish Music and can reach attendance of 400,000 over the course of nine eventful days. Here are some photographs. I will now set up a section for the Fleadh.
Visitors and musicians from all over the world come to play and compete. There are music sessions everywhere all day and all night. The normal streets of the town are closed to traffic and musicians and dancers of all ages from the very young upwards play on the streets. There are also many sessions in the pubs and festival venues. I have just concentrated on daytime public streets.
It might be a nice idea if you posted this on your facebook page or whatever form of social media you are into. Thanking you, Dermot.

A very high Bicycle with passenger (notice the hat). If the railing was not there where would he put his left leg?? |
