Mountain Streams

This is a follow on from the photograph of a mountain stream posted in photograph of the week on 9th December 2013. I wont repeat the same introduction as I wrote in that post.

Some of the photographs I like most are the ones that simply show the beauty in nature. This can be done on grey misty days in the North West of Ireland. In fact in those grey days, there is some beautiful colour if you can only see it.

I will number the photographs so that I can explain which group belong to the Saturday walk of Benbulben and which belong to Glencar on Sunday.

I am aware that many of the photographs are very similar but it is the effect of the collection together that I like. Photographs 1 to 5 were taken on Saturday December 7th 2013 on my Benbulben climb. I hike from Luke's Bridge along this stream towards the mountain. This is the stream that feeds the Grange and area water supply (I think).

Photographs 6 to 25 are taken in Glencar on Sunday 8th December 2013. They are all taken in the Leitrim part of Glencar. I include a few photographs of the very misty mountain and "sheep safely grazing", I love the red marking on the sheep against the colours of the hills.

The stream that features in the Glencar photographs is the stream (to the best of my knowledge) that feeds into the famous Glencar Waterfall which I have included in photograph 25.

Today in Glencar (17 November 2013 )

Today I went for a walk in Glencar which is about 12 km from where I live. I have walked there often and have posted many photographs on my blog. Today I felt pure magic there, that is why  when I got home I sat down in front of the computer and you will now see the result of my walk. Maybe some of you will get some of the magic I have got out of today. I brought no tripod with me and as a reult I rested the camera on stones in the middle of a stream. There were times when the water was flowing in over my boots and other times I knelt down on the wet ground placing the camera on the ground and used the self timer to avoid blur. At the waterfall I meet some people otherwise for three hours I meet only one person.

I feel no need to put individual captions on the photographs as they are all taken in Glencar, in fact they are all taken in the Leitrim part of Glencar but some are looking towards Sligo.

 Enjoy.
